She visits the island at the invitation of the National Parks Bonaire Foundation (STINAPA Bonaire), a non-governmental organization that is responsible for the management of the national parks on Bonaire.
STINAPA is a member of the Dutch Caribbean Nature Alliance (DCNA), of which Princess Beatrix is patroness.
Princess Beatrix attends the symposium 'Economy and nature in balance'. The symposium, organized by DCNA, focuses on the area of tension between nature conservation and conservation and the development of tourism. In addition to speeches, a panel discussion takes place.
